We’re back to blogging! I’ve recently made a few changes to my employment situation and now have the desire (and time) to keep up with a blog.
The world is currently trying to deal what appears to be the early stages of a coronavirus pandemic. We’re all fairly clear that this is a dangerous new virus but we haven’t quite been given enough information on how contagious or deadly it really is. I don’t expect to be writing too much about it since the situation is changing on a daily basis. Our KA9OFF site is churning away at providing the most recent headlines so please check that out regularly if you are wanting to stay abreast of the situation.
As stated above, I have made a change in my employment status. For almost 20 years I have been operating a small manufacturing business that was quite successful until 2008 but never quite recovered from the Great Recession. My retirement age will be here in the blink of an eye and I need to prepare for that. For over a year I have been working both the business and full time at a big-box home improvement store. I quit the big-box store after accepting a better position in my original line of work and have downsized the business enough to hopefully keep it alive until I retire when it can be revived as a supplemental income source.
This domain (Kanoffroad) was our domain name back in the 1990s when the internet first came on the scene. We used it to market a line of small dune buggies and sand dragsters that we manufactured here in Indiana. Some of our older readers may remember our ads in the offroad and atv printed magazines.
We closed that business in 2002 and I let the domain name expire. My youngest son took it over in 2006 when he was starting a rock crawler chassis business but the demands of starting a family took precedence and he let the domain name go as well. Now here we are a dozen years later and the domain name was resurrected again….
This blog is dedicated our grandchildren, of which we currently have 14. We don’t get to spend as much time with them as we’d like so it’s my hope that they will learn a little more about their grandparents if/when they read these pages in the future.
